Description
Paying homage to the North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks, this chair solves the common problem of having your view interrupted by railings. David and Hilda Smith tirelessly designed the first chair in the spring of 2003. Their goal was to make it comfortable, sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, and see over that pesky rail. Over a thousand chairs have since found new homes enjoying every view imaginable. The Smith’s now enjoy time spent with their grandchildren, diving, and touring the globe. Fatlighter partnered with the Smith’s to ensure the chairs remain available. There are similar chairs out there but we’ve yet to find one as comfortable!
Base Price $475 Includes one original chair built with conventional treated lumber and stainless hardware.
Additional Options- (per chair)
Wide View Upgrade $75-An extra 3.5” is added to the width of the chair making it a bit roomier to take in the view. Associated seat materials are also built sturdier to accommodate the added span of the materials.
KDAT Wood Upgrade $115-KDAT (Kiln Dried After Treatment) is a more predictable wood as compared to other treated wood. It can also receive sealers and stain immediately as excessive moisture has been removed.
Add solid stain $225-Choose your custom color! Parts are stained prior to assembly to ensure all surfaces are covered. Parts are also sanded between coats to ensure finish is smooth and presentable. Requires two chair minimal and KDAT upgrade.
Add steel structure $345-Want a chair that you will never have to replace? This is it! This option deletes the wooden structure of the chair and replaces it with steel. The chair seat, back, and arms remain wooden so that they do not overheat in the sun. Rebuild kits are available to refurbish the wooden sections as needed. However, the steel structure will never need replacing if properly maintained.
Add Powder Coat Finish $175-Choose from select colors. Requires steel structure option.
